Do you have a passion for art, literature, poetry, film or performance? Have you ever wondered what a museum does and how they do it? Do you enjoy contributing to your community, learning new skills and meeting new people?

If you have answered yes to any of the above and you would like to join our growing team of dedicated volunteers, be sure to join our socials and mailing list to receive the Museum’s volunteer call out.

General Information for Volunteers

Minimum Age

I have responded to the call out and submitted my form, when will I hear back from MIAA?

We endeavour to respond to applicants in due course. We responsibly engage our volunteers and will only contact you if/when meaningful volunteering
opportunities become available in the area/s of interest you have selected.

Working With Children Check

All staff and volunteers at MIAA must hold a valid
WWC for the duration of their engagement with the museum.

I really want to volunteer but I don’t have a WWC, what should I do?

Our friendly and helpful Volunteer Coordinator and Administration team will guide you to the relevant WWC application. Note: applications for volunteer positions do not incur
the WWC processing fee.

Rewards and Benefits

We understand that people choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For many, volunteering is a great way to add to their skillset, work experience and CV, engage in new activities, learn new skills or simply enjoy the company of colleagues and visitors in a beautiful museum setting. Whilst others do so as a form of personal charity (or sadaqa) contributing to the well-being of their communities. Regardless of the reason behind your decision to join MIAA’s growing team of diverse volunteers, we welcome your contributions and aim to support you in your role.

MIAA is committed to recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of our volunteers. MIAA volunteers may also enjoy benefits such as free MIAA membership, discounts at the museum gift shop and café, invitations to special events and gatherings, plus other benefits.
