Ramadan Program

The sighting of the new crescent moon is a strong tradition for Muslims to mark the start of Ramadan.

On Saturday 1 March 2025, Sydney Observatory in collaboration with the Islamic Sciences and Research Academy (ISRA) and artist Shireen Taweel, present an evening of insights into Islamic astronomy and its connection to cultural narratives, navigation and cosmology.

The Story Begins

Join us for the announcement of the museum site, unveiling of the logo, and the vision for Australia’s first Museum of Islamic Art.

Ramadan Journal Workshop

On Sunday 8 February, participants gathered at ISRA Academy Sydney for a 3 hour Ramadan Journal Binding Workshop, thoughtfully facilitated by Sister Aiten from MAKN Studio. The afternoon offered a welcoming environment centred on creativity, reflection and community.
